Google has been growing immensely the past years, not only getting to dominate the entire Search Engine industry but also developing software and email client servers that easily pushed hotmail (MS’s free email) to the backseat. It seems like for Yahoo and MS, the competition against the big G is getting unreachable, so Microsoft decided to take a big step that might equalize MS’s chances against Google on the stock market.
Microsoft offers Yahoo! $50 Billion.
As a web-based industry, Yahoo is far more successful online than MS, and as Google keeps challenging MS, releasing more and more software application, Microsoft knows that they will pool their Search industry together (Yahoo search + Live search) the two companies together would dominate (if we can use this word) 27% of the search market. This still stands against Google’s 65%.
Currently Google acquired blogger’s feed count — Feedburner.com, while Yahoo merged powers with MyBlogLog. Google also currently owns DoubleClick, YouTube, Orkut and runs a close partnership with many ever-growing companies such as Mozilla Firefox.
Will Microsoft get to buy Yahoo? Maybe. Will it kill Google? For sure not.
